Moving from ZAP-Hosting: Step-by-Step Guide
Want to switch from ZAP-Hosting to game-serverhosting? Here's how to bring your data along safely.
What You Need
- ZAP-Hosting account with an active server
- FTP client (e.g. FileZilla — free)
- About 20–30 minutes
Step 1: Find Your ZAP-Hosting FTP Credentials
- Log in at zap-hosting.com
- Select your game server
- Click "Settings" → "FTP Browser"
- Note down:
- Host: Your server IP
- Port:
21(standard FTP) - Username: Your ZAP ID
- Password: Your FTP password
Note: ZAP-Hosting uses standard FTP (port 21) by default, not SFTP. For the direct import we recommend the upload method.
Step 2: Download Server Files
- Launch FileZilla and connect:

- Host:
- Navigate to the game folder (e.g.
/gXXXXX/minecraft/) - Select all files → Right-click → "Download"
- Wait for the download to finish
Step 3: Create a ZIP Archive
- Open your Downloads folder
- Select the game folder
- Right-click → "Compress to ZIP" (Windows) or
zip -r backup.zip folder/(terminal) - Maximum size: 10 GB
Step 4: Import at game-serverhosting
- Open /migrate?hoster=zap
- Select your game
- Choose "Upload file" as the import method
- Upload your ZIP archive (drag & drop)
- Import starts automatically
Step 5: Order and Start Your Server
After a successful import:
- System automatically detects game and mods
- RAM recommendation is displayed
- Choose your plan and pay via Stripe
- Server starts automatically
Step 6: Verify Everything — Then Cancel ZAP
Check after startup:
- World fully loaded?
- Plugins/mods active?
- Configuration (max-players, seed, etc.) correct?
Only cancel your ZAP-Hosting subscription once everything is confirmed.

ZAP doesn't have SFTP, only FTP — will it still work?
Yes! Just download your files via FTP, create a ZIP, and upload it to us.
My world is 8 GB — is that OK?
Yes, we support uploads up to 10 GB. ZIP compression typically reduces the size by 30–50%.
What if my FTP password doesn't work?
Reset it in ZAP-Hosting under Settings → FTP and wait 2–3 minutes.
