Moving from Nitrado: Guide for game-serverhosting Migration
Want to move your Nitrado game server to game-serverhosting? Our migration wizard makes it quick. This guide shows you exactly how.
What You Need
- Nitrado account with an active game server
- About 15–20 minutes (excluding download time)
Step 1: Find Your Nitrado SFTP Credentials
- Log in at server.nitrado.net
- Select your game server
- Click "Configuration" in the left menu
- Open "FTP Browser" or "Credentials"
- Note down:
- Host: Your server IP (e.g.
de5.gameservers.nitra.do) - Port:
21(FTP) or22(SFTP — preferred) - Username: Your Nitrado ID
- Password: Your FTP password (set it in the credentials section)
- Host: Your server IP (e.g.
Tip: Use SFTP (port 22) instead of FTP for a secure transfer.
Step 2: Choose Your Import Method
Option A: Direct SFTP Import (Recommended)
Enter your Nitrado SFTP credentials directly in the wizard — we fetch the data automatically.
Option B: Download and Upload Backup
- Connect via SFTP client (e.g. FileZilla) using your Nitrado credentials
- Download the game folder (e.g.
/games/ni_12345/minecraft/) - Compress to ZIP (max. 10 GB)
- Upload in the migration wizard
Option C: Nitrado Backup Feature
Some plans have automatic backups:
- Game server → Backups
- Create or download an existing backup
- Import the
.tar.gzfile in the wizard
Step 3: Start the Migration Wizard
- Open /migrate?hoster=nitrado
- Select your game
- Choose import method (SFTP or upload)
- Start the import
Step 4: New Server Configuration
The system automatically detects:
- Game variant (e.g. Paper Minecraft, Vanilla ARK)
- Installed mods and plugins
- Slots and storage requirements
Choose a suitable plan and order via Stripe checkout.
Step 5: Verification
After a successful import:
- Server starts automatically
- Check worlds, plugins, configuration
- Only cancel Nitrado after a successful review
FAQ
What happens to my plugins/mods?
All plugins and mods are included in the import. The system detects them automatically.
How secure is the data transfer?
All transfers are encrypted via SFTP/TLS. SFTP passwords are held in memory only during the import and are never stored.
Can I import my Minecraft world and plugins separately?
No, we import the complete server folder. Afterward you can delete any unwanted files in the file manager.
