Where Palworld stores your world

Your Palworld server saves all progress under the path /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/. World files, player inventories and Pal data all live there. Backups protect you from accidental data loss, configuration mistakes or game crashes.

Before doing anything risky – such as updating the server version, making large configuration changes or adding mods – it's always worth creating a current backup.

Step 1: Open the server dashboard

Open the dashboard and click on your Palworld server. All management options are available once the server is in the ready state.

Step 2: Create a backup

Switch to the Backups section on the server detail page. Click Create Backup. The panel archives the entire server instance – including all files under /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/.

Depending on world size the process takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes. The server keeps running during the backup.

Step 3: Download the backup

After it's created, the backup appears in the list with a date and timestamp. Click Download to save the archive locally. Store it somewhere safe – for example on an external drive or in cloud storage.

Step 4: Restore a world

If you want to restore a world from a backup:

  1. Upload the desired backup archive (if necessary).
  2. Use the Restore option next to the corresponding backup entry.
  3. The server stops, the saved files are replaced and the server restarts afterwards.

Tip: Schedule regular backups

The more active your server is, the more frequently you should create backups. Creating one before any major update – whether to Palworld itself or to the configuration – is good server hygiene.

Summary

Palworld worlds live under /Pal/Saved/SaveGames/. With the in-panel backup function you create a complete archive in one click, download it and can restore it in an emergency. Always create backups before risky changes – it saves a lot of frustration when things go wrong.
