Why Use Your Own Domain?

Instead of an IP address like 78.47.123.197:25566, your players can connect via play.your-domain.com. It looks more professional, is easier to remember, and stays stable even if your IP changes.

How to Connect Your Domain

  1. Open your server dashboard and click the Domain tab.
  2. Enter your domain or subdomain (e.g. play.my-site.com).
  3. Click Connect Domain.
  4. The system shows you a TXT record that you need to add at your DNS provider. This verifies that you own the domain.
  5. Also add a CNAME record pointing to the address shown.
  6. Wait a moment — the system checks automatically every 2 minutes whether the DNS entries are correct.

DNS Records at a Glance

Type Name Value Purpose
TXT _gsh-verify.play.example.com gsh-verify-abc123... Proof of ownership
CNAME play.example.com mc-a16750.game-serverhosting.de Routing

Important Notes

  • Use a subdomain — Apex domains (e.g. my-site.com without a subdomain) cannot have a CNAME record. Use play.my-site.com or mc.my-site.com instead.
  • Disable Cloudflare proxy — If you use Cloudflare, make sure the DNS entry is set to DNS only (grey cloud). The orange proxy blocks game traffic.
  • DNS propagation — DNS changes can take up to 24 hours, but usually only a few minutes.

Live Status in the Dashboard

After setup, you can see the verification status directly in the Domain tab:

  • Pending — DNS is being checked (every 2 minutes)
  • Verified — Domain is active and connected
  • Failed — DNS records not found (after 30 attempts)

Free and Included

Domain connection is free at game-serverhosting. At other providers this feature is often unavailable or costs extra.
