Why Automatic Restarts?

Game servers consume more and more RAM over time. Games like Minecraft, Rust, or Valheim have known memory leaks that cause lag after 12–24 hours. A daily restart fixes the problem automatically.

How to Set Up an Auto-Restart

  1. Open your server dashboard and click the Tasks tab.
  2. Click New Task.
  3. Select Restart as the task type.
  4. Choose a schedule — for example, Daily at 05:00 UTC (when few players are online).
  5. Save the task. Done!

Up to 10 Tasks per Server

You can create up to 10 scheduled tasks per server. In addition to restarts, you can also schedule automatic backups and commands:

  • Restart — Fully restarts the server
  • Backup — Creates a backup of your world data
  • Command — Runs any console command (e.g. say Server restarting in 5 minutes!)

Recommended Restart Times

Game Recommended Time Reason
Minecraft 04:00–06:00 UTC Few EU players online
Rust 05:00 UTC Before wipe day
Valheim 03:00 UTC Lowest player activity
Palworld 04:00 UTC RAM leak after ~12h

Free and Included

At game-serverhosting, scheduled tasks are included with every server at no extra cost. At other providers like G-Portal or Nitrado, this feature is often only available on more expensive plans.
